Holy Cucalorus

In the four day event of attending Cucalorus, it is evident that the annual occasion has gained quite some popularity. Some personal favorites I ran into were Monster Camp and Rocket Science. I cannot tell if lack of hype enhances my vision of a film or if they were just damn good. Monster Camp contained people who got a thrill off of NERO fantasy. It involved a 48 hour battle of understanding over 200 magical powers that made me laugh for a good length of the film. At first I felt bad for how the people were portrayed until I realized these people were absolutely stoked on what they were doing and escaping from the reality of their somewhat painful lives. Each character was very distinct and memorable. Then there was Rocket Science, wow. The film reminded me of a better version of napoleon dynamite. The movie felt so predictable until the twist arrived and brought perspective to a whole other light in the main character's role. Very interesting to see how everything turned out this year and I hope that everyone's feedback was as positive as mine.

Surfing the XL2

Shot this footage last weekend for my buddy Travis who was in a surf contest. I used the Canon XL2 which was my first time using one and I was truly amazed with the quality when I switched it to 24 f to slow down the motion to look more like film. The song is titled Pacific Theme by Broken Social Scene. Enjoy my fellow colleagues!

Tranquility

I shot some stuff downtown on Friday and was listening to this song practically on repeat when I shot it. I feel it really captures the mood of the subjects in the short so I decided to edit the song with the footage. The song is called Hands Away by Interpol. Enjoy!
